Custom Quilts

One of the biggest compliments I receive is when someone sees my work and commissions me to make a quilt for them. From a mini-quilt to hang in your office to baby showers and weddings, it's an honor to bring a custom quilt to life for you and your loved ones!

Here is some general information about commissioning a quilt. If you have additional questions or would like to discuss your commission, please send me a message to PewterAcornQuilts@gmail.com or send a message on Facebook.  I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Commissioning a Quilt

The process of commissioning a custom-made quilt is quite easy; there are just two simple steps:
1.     First will be an introduction of sorts, this will help me understand what you’re looking for in your quilt and will give you an idea of what options I offer. I’ll review your Interest Form and set up a time for us to discuss your preferences and requirements.
2.     Once we’ve finalized your design choices, I’ll provide a Commission Agreement for your final review. With your approval, we’re ready to turn your quilt into a reality!
I will carefully cut and piece together the materials, quilt from edge to edge over the entire area, and bind the quilt. A custom label may be added for an additional charge.

I’ll provide photos during the process so you can see how the quilt is progressing. This is my favorite part!

Ready to get started?  Yay! I can’t wait to see what we can make together! Just fill out an Interest Form and I’ll be in touch soon!

How will I know what my quilt will look like?
We will walk through the options for pattern, size, colors, and quilting. Once you decide on those details, we’ll sum it all up in your Commission Agreement. Fabric comes in and out of stock quickly, so I may not have an exact match to a specific print, but I will stay true to the aesthetic and style of the prints. I can send photos of swatches of exact fabrics upon request.

Do you design custom patterns?
Absolutely! If you have something specific in mind and it's not one of my standard patterns, we can talk about designing a one-of-a-kind pattern to meet your vision. There will be a small design fee to create mock-ups of multiple options based on your needs and budget. If you want to proceed with one of those options, we complete a commission agreement and I get sewing!

When will my quilt be done?
Turn-around time varies by size and complexity of your quilt. Typically quilts will be completed within 6-8 weeks. If you need your quilt by a certain date, let me know and I will make my best effort to deliver it to you for that deadline.

What will my custom quilt cost and how do I pay?
Prices are set around the cost of materials and market value for the time and specialty skills required for the project. This generally ranges from 9-13 cents per inch2 but keep in mind these are rough estimates only.
A quote specific to your quilt will be provided after important details are determined, as size, pattern, fabric choice, amount of quilting, all affect the price.
