The east coast has had some pretty wackazoid weather lately.
Yes, that is a meteorologically accurate word for the hurricanes, earthquakes and tornado warnings.
Trust me, I'm a scientist.

No, I didn't float away or fall off the face of the earth. I swear. I've just had some technical issues.
And by issues, I mean my laptop is no more. It was a slow, painful process that
started with some sticky keys and a non-functioning CD drive and culminated in the grey screen of death.
Dear hubby did his best to resuscitate her, but, sadly, was unsuccessful.

I really can't be too sad.
She endured 4 solid years at college and the infamous apple juice spill of 2009.

I'll miss her. But it's time to move on. So, an evening spent on eBay and $80 later I would like to announce her brother from the another the same DELL mother: Lappy Jr.
She is up and running just in time for this week's installment of WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced!
So without further ado, here's what I've been up to:
New Projects
None! Can you believe it? I think that's a first. I'd love to say it's my amazing self discipline but more realistically, I simply spent less time blog hopping due to the aforementioned computer issues.
Completed Projects
1. My blocks for Sarah's charity quilt are done and mailed!I got 4 blocks done (two for each sister).
I really like the brick block, don't you?
I can't wait to see how they will look with the other blocks everyone has put together!
Progress
Sorry in advance for the bounty of crappy cell-phone photos!
Next week I'll use the good camera, I promise ;)
I have been chain piecing like a mad woman over here,
and it's coming together rather painlessly.
At one point though, I did have to take a break
and walk around because my pedal foot was cramping, ha!
I've gotten as far as getting 2/3 of every block pieced.
I can't wait to get this puppy laid out! The anticipation is killing me!
2. I've been doing some hand quilting on the Scrappy Friendship Quilt in the evenings.
Nothing fancy, just a long zig-zag, but I am really happy with the experience so far. My stitches are becoming more consistant and it's starting to get that yummy crinkly quilt texture!

So sorry about your computer! I had issues several months ago with a virus and it was like losing an arm when they took it away to fix it. Love your blocks for the girls' quilts!
ReplyDeleteI think my laptop is about to take the big dump, too. Not going to be pretty. I wish I had made your kind of progress on my QAL this week. My little pile of fabric just sits there glaring at me...Your hand quilting looks great so far!
ReplyDeleteYour charity quilt blocks are just gorgeous. I've always been a sucker for spots.
ReplyDeleteI've missed you! So good to see those dots again. Go eBay!
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's what I need. A laptop crash, so I have to get some quilting done. LOL!
